Fall General-Invite Work Group - October 26-27
Dear friends of Machen Retreat and Conference Center,
Warmest greeting to all of you in Christ Jesus our Lord. The 2007 season at MRCC was a wonderful provision of God's grace and blessing to His people. The wonderful increase in use of this OPC facility has again called for an annual event:
Summary:
We will be having our organized Fall Work Weekend on October 26-27 to accomplish several needed repairs and improvements to our facility. Food and lodging will be provided from dinner on Thursday 10/25 to breakfast on Sunday 10/28 so that those coming can give full days of labor on Friday and Saturday. Please let me know, as soon as you are able, if you plan to come. Read on for much more information. (See the very end of this note if you would like to not receive such notices from us.)
Details:
The Retreat Operating Committee is planning a Work Weekend at Machen Retreat and Conference Center (MRCC) surrounding October 26-27.
There are many items that need attention at MRCC. (See the bottom of this page for a list of a lot of them.)
The weekend will be structured as follows: The official start will be dinner on
Thursday. We will work all day Friday and Saturday with three simple meals served each day. Breakfast will be provided Sunday morning and all attendees are welcome to attend worship at the OPC in Staunton. Lodging and all meals from Thursday dinner through Sunday Breakfast will be provided free of charge, albeit in exchange for workdays at MRCC. This time will be a time of focused work so we ask that attendants be limited to adults & teens able and willing to give a full day of labor.
Additional possibilities:
All are welcome to come early on Thursday to participate in work that
may occur that day (however, only Thursday dinner will be provided). MRCC will be open to all participants from Thursday, 10/25, to Monday, 10/29, if you desire to come early or leave late (avoiding the drive on the Lord's Day). Lodging during these dates will be free of change, assuming participation in the work group. You are welcome to bring you own food and use the kitchen any time before or after the provided meals.
PLEASE send me an email to let me know if you can come to bless us and to further the work of the OPC here at MRCC. If you plan to come please let me know the number of persons in your group (1 is OK), the estimated arrival and departure times, and any skill set that your group may have (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, cleaning, cooking, etc.).
Finally, please let your church and any friends/family know about this opportunity if they may be interested.
