You are invited to the Thirteenth Semi-Annual OPC Singles Retreat!

Sponsored by the Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church
at the Machen Retreat and Conference Center (MRCC) in McDowell, VA
April 28-30, 2006
The topic is Worship: Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy
About the Speaker: Rev. Dan Knox is the pastor of Grace OPC in Sewickley, PA. He was born
and raised in the United Presbyterian Church and attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
where he studied under Dr. John Gerstner. He was ordained in the UPCUSA in 1979 and left
that denomination in 1984 to join the OPC, being called by Grace OPC. He and his wife Pam
have four children.
All singles of college age and up are invited as are non-OPC members. The cost is $57. If you
would have difficulty paying the full cost but would like to attend, a small subsidy may become
available and will be given as a rebate (you can indicate your need on the registration slip below
and you will be contacted) or you may wish to request assistance from a deacon at your church.

All meals are included with the cost of the retreat. If you have any food allergies (peanuts, milk
products), please describe them on the back of the registration form (including level of
severity). We will contact you to let you know what can be accommodated. In some cases, you
may need to bring your special food items.
Showers are available. Please keep in mind that the
weather may be cold.
Schedule: The retreat begins at 7:00 PM on Friday, April 28th and ends after lunch and cleanup
on Sunday, April 30.
Directions: From Interstate I-81, take Exit 225 for Route 275 West (Woodrow Wilson
Parkway) just north of Staunton, VA. Route 275 is a bypass around the town of Staunton and
ends at a "T" junction with Route 250 after 5.5 miles. Turn right onto Route 250 and proceed
west for about 32 miles. You will pass through Churchville early on. For the last 10 miles or so
on Route 250, you will cross three mountain ridges of which Shenandoah Mountain is the first.
Beware of sharp hair pin turns going up & down the mountains. When you get to the town of
McDowell, turn left on Route 678. Proceed south on Route 678 for about 8.9 miles. The
entrance to the MRCC is on the right. Take the gravel road to the right of the Machen sign up to
the conference center. If you get lost, you can call David Tack (the MRCC Director) at 540-396-
4323.
